"A Community in Christ on the Journey of Faith"
Messiah's Sunday School meets each Sunday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Preschool children, age 2 - 5, meet
together for hands on activities, Bible stories, and singing.
Children from kindergarten - grade 5, gather first in the Sunday school chapel area for an opening devotion, singing, gathering of our offering, prayer, and memory work. At 10:30 am the children meet in grade level classes to study God's word and apply it to their lives through Bible stories and activities.
The Sunday school children sing and/or play bells in worship services about once a quarter.
Serves as both our instruction of Luther's Small Catechism toward Confirmation and as our Adult Sunday Morning Bible Study. This course runs on a three-year rotation. In year one, we study the Ten Commandments. In year two, we study the Apostles' Creed and the Lord's Prayer. In year three, we study Holy Baptism, Confession and Absolution, and the Sacrament of the Altar. This intergeneration study combines the Catechism, Holy Scripture, and practical life experiences. Led by the pastor, this course encourages discussion and questions from the participants. This study is each Sunday morning, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Serves those who desire a more in-depth course of study. Currently we are in week 18 of a 60-week Bible survey course called Crossways. This course is an in-depth look at the themes, history, and centrality of Christ in all Scriptures, taking us from Genesis to Revelation. In the past we have studied a particular book of the Bible, eras of church history, contemporary issues, and much more. We meet each Monday evening, 7:00-9:00 p.m., with a snack break in the middle.
Meets each Thursday, 1:00-3:00pm, September through May. We study a variety of topics including various Books of the Bible, Women in the Bible, Life Issues, and much more. We meet either in homes or at church, depending on who is hosting that day. We have our Bible study from 1:00-2:00, and then dessert and fellowship at 2:00pm. We have also begun an annual tradition of a St. Lucia lunch/study each year around December 13. We also have a lunch/study around the second second Tuesday of May. During summer, we meet once a month, as posted on the calendar. For more information, contact Jan Nesja.
This class is for women ages 25 - 50. We meet the second and fourth Thursday evenings of each month, at 7:00 pm at Messiah. We enjoy Bible Study, food and friendships. We are happy to welcome women from all walks of life, single and married, with and without children, and a variety of careers. Please join us anytime.
The Youth Bible Study is held on Sunday nights starting at 6:00 pm and is designed for High School aged youth from 9-12th grades. This is an interactive study based on reading sections of the Bible and learning how to apply it to our every day lives. We will also include topical Bible studies where we will focus on a topic of interest and see what the Bible has to say about it. Time will be taken before the Bible study for current events, where the youth are encouraged to share stories about their week. This will allow people to get to know one another better as well providing topics of discussion for Bible study.
Every Wednesday night at 6:00 pm there is a Campfire/Fireside Devotion for all ages. Devotions and games are the theme of the evening along with a little singing thrown in. This is a time to get together with other youth and have some fun. When the weather gets too cold to be outside, we will move indoors to the St. Paul Room to take advantage of its cozy fireplace.
