Church Boards

Board of History, Arts and Culture

Chair: Jackie Jansen

The Board of History, Art, and Culture is responsible for giving the congregation opportunities to appreciate her history, ecclesiastical art, and Lutheran culture.

History Task Force: Colleen Nelson

This task force is responsible for giving Messiah ongoing opportunities to learn of the rich heritage of her parish. This task force's biggest effort was planning the Fiftieth University celebration in the spring of 2006. The task force also periodically plans bulletin boards and displays with pictures of current happenings in the congregation. There is an occasional article on some facet of Messiah's current history in the Messiah Messenger.

Ecclesiastical Art Task Force: Arnie Donat

This task force is responsible for educating the congregation concerning ecclesiastical art and giving the congregation direction concerning the same.

Altar Guild Task Force: Jan Nesja

This task force is responsible for all liturgical banners, cloths, and paraments; arrangement of plants and flowers in the sanctuary and clean-up after the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. The work of the Altar Guild Task Force is never ending. Banners and paraments are changed frequently and cleanup after the Sacraments is weekly as is the arrangement of flowers for the chancel area. The Altar Guild also is responsible for the "Hanging of the Greens" for the Advent season. In the spring, the Altar Guild selects paraments and banners to enter in the Artists Celebrating Christ art show.

Music Task Force: Pastor James Baneck

This task force is responsible for the overall music program at Messiah, including church choirs, concerts, instrumentalist, etc. Messiah's choir sings often during Sunday services. We also have a number of very talented musicians who often perform with the choir or as soloists. During the Christmas season, the choir and a number of instrumentals perform in the "Classical Christmas Concert." Guest soloists from outside of the congregation including a harpist, bagpiper, and string quartet have performed during this concert.
